Calista Novak had a very happy childhood. She was born to Dalton and Sherri Novak, a young couple with stars in their eyes and dreams as big as the Sunset Valley sky. Dalton, an artist, and Sherri, an aspiring Rock Star, loved their daughter more than anything in the world.

Calista was born with great artistic talents, which were nurtured from a young age.

She was Daddy’s Little Girl, and her mother’s pride and joy. From a young age, Dalton and Sherri instilled in her the value of family.

The family did not have a lot of money, but they had enough to get by, and their love for one another made up for the material things they could not get.

Tragedy stuck, however, in the form of a drunk driver who crossed the center line one night, killing Dalton and Sherri on impact. Eleven-year-old Calista walked away from the accident with only a few scrapes and bruises. Her parents left her with a couple thousand simoleons in a bank account, and a large piece of land out in the country. Since Calista did not have any other family, she was taken into the foster care system. For the next four years, Calista bounced between group homes and foster families, never staying in one place too long. All she had to carry her through were memories, books, and her journal, which she wrote in often because she could not express her feelings aloud.
At age 15, Calista moved in with a new foster family, Gina and Neil Wilcox, and their son, Peter. It was here that she was finally able to find, once again, the sense of family that she had been missing since the death of her parents. It was not the same, of course, but it was something.

Calista especially loved her little foster brother, Peter. He was a very friendly kid who shared Calista’s love for the outdoors.

For the next few years, Calista lived happily with the Wilcox family, but inevitably, her time there could not last forever. As her 18th birthday approached, signifying the end of her time in foster care, Calista sat down to talk to Gina and Neil about her future.

Calista told Neil and Gina that she would be moving to the land her parents had left for her. She talked about the gorgeous new house she planned to build there.

Gina encouraged Calista to follow her heart wherever it may lead her. They discussed the possibility of her having children and starting a family of her own.

So, with a heart full of dreams and 1300 simoleons in her pocket, Calista headed for Riverview to start her new life.
